About Johan's Audio
I've been buying and selling second-hand hi-fi out of the same house since 2011. It started because I kept ending up with two of everything, and it carried on because people wanted somewhere to buy used gear without holding their breath.
There's no shop floor and no sales patter. Everything is cleaned, tested on my own system, played for at least a week and then written up as I found it. If a volume pot is scratchy or a tweeter has been replaced, it says so in the listing — you shouldn't have to discover that at home.
The grades, in plain words
| Grade A | Looks and sounds as it left the factory. Usually boxed, usually with the remote, manual and leads. |
|---|---|
| Grade B | Light marks from ordinary life — a scuff on the top, a mark on a veneer. Working properly, nothing needing attention. |
| Grade C | Tired cosmetically, or with a fault I've listed. Priced accordingly and honestly described. Fine pieces for anyone happy with a project. |

How the trade-in works
- Message me about what you're replacing: make, model, condition, roughly what it cost new, and which listing you're after.
- I'll come back with a figure off that piece.
- Bring your old one when you collect, or post it with the free label. You pay the balance once it's here.
- I test it before we settle. If it isn't what you described, we agree a new figure or I post it back free.
I don't hold stock while we talk, so if someone else orders first, it's theirs. I'll tell you straight away if that happens.
